Traditional systems are managed by IT departments and apply to everyone, all the time. Learning Focus is controlled by the teacher, lesson by lesson, with content, resources, and insights all in one place. It provides a secure, built-in browser where students can access only the Learnlab activities and approved external resources that the teacher has opened for them. The rest of the device is locked down, much like an exam browser.
For primary schools, the Norwegian Directorate for Education recommends an allowlist filter—solutions that provide access only to pre-approved content. For lower secondary schools, a blocklist filter is recommended. Learning Focus serves as the pedagogical layer on top of either approach.
